Approaching milestones ahead of Australia-India ODI series

The ensuing one-day series comprising of five games between Australia and India will be the first bilateral series between the two teams to be played in Australia. Australia and India have played seven series prior to the ensuing one-day series and all the seven series have been played in India.

The following table list all the seven series:

MS Dhoni has an aggregate of 1169 runs against Australia prior to the start of the series. He needs 31 more runs for his 1200 runs. If he gets it, he would become the sixth batsman to total 1200 runs in Australia-India one-day series. Others are – SR Tendulkar {3077}, RT Ponting {2164}, AC Gilchrist {1622}, ML Hayden {1450} and DC Boon {1212]

MS Dhoni has an aggregate of eight fifties against Australia prior to the start of the series. He needs two more fifties for his ten fifties.  If he gets it, he would become the fifth batsman to score ten or more fifties in Australia-India one-day series. Others are – SR Tendulkar {24), RT Ponting (15}, AC Gilchrist {13} and ML Hayden {13}

MS Dhoni has an aggregate of 8832 runs prior to the start of the series. He needs 168 more runs for his 9000 runs. If he gets them, he would then become the fifth Indian batsman to total 9000 plus runs in one-day games. Others are SR Tendulkar {18426}, SC Ganguly {11363}. R Dravid {10889} and M Azharuddin {9378}

MS Dhoni has an aggregate of 8832 runs prior to the start of the series. He needs 168 more runs for his 9000 runs. If he gets them, he would then become the 17th batsman to total 9000 plus runs in the annals of one-day games and the third wicketkeeper-batsman to total 9000 plus runs in the annals of one-day games. Others are – KC Sangakkara {13341} and AC Gilchrist {9410}

MS Dhoni has an aggregate of 6355 runs as a captain-wicketkeeper prior to the start of the series. He needs 155 more runs for his 6500 runs. If he gets them, he would then become the first captain wicketkeeper-batsman to total 6500 plus runs in the annals of one-day games.

MS Dhoni has remained not out on 48 occasions while captaining India. He needs two more unbeaten knocks which would fetch him 50 not outs. If he gets them, he would then become the first and the only captain to remain not out on 50 occasions in ODI cricket. This statistic applies to a captain-wicketkeeper also.

V Kohli has an aggregate of 6831 runs prior to the start of the series. He needs 169 runs for his 7000 runs in one day games. If he gets them, he would then become the eighth Indian and 36th batsman in international cricket to aggregate 7000 plus runs in ODI cricket. Others are – SR Tendulkar {18426], SC Ganguly {11221}, R Dravid {10768}, M Azharuddin {9378}, MS Dhoni {8658}, Yuvraj Singh {8237} and V Sehwag {7995}.

RG Sharma has an aggregate of 856 runs against Australia. He needs 144 runs for his 1000 runs. If he gets them, he would then become the third Indian batsman to total 1000 plus runs against Australia. Others are – Sachin Tendulkar {3077} and MS Dhoni {1169}.

RG Sharma has scored 30 sixes against Australia prior to the start of the series. He needs six more sixes to earn the distinction of scoring most sixes by an Indian batsman against Australia. Tendulkar now holds the record with 35 sixes.

He also needs six more sixes to earn the distinction of scoring most sixes by a batsman in Australia-India one-day series. SR Tendulkar has scored 35 sixes and RT Ponting has scored 32 sixes

MS Dhoni has effected 44 dismissals behind the stumps against Australia prior to the start of the series. He needs six more dismissals for his 50 dismissals. If he effects, then he would become the second wicketkeeper in Australia-India one-day series to effect 50 or more dismissals after Adam Gilchrist. Gilchrist has effected 79 dismissals against India.

MS Dhoni has effected 342 dismissals in his one-day career prior to the start of the series. He needs eight more dismissals for his 350 dismissals. If he effects them, he would then become the fourth wicketkeeper in ODI cricket to effect 350 plus dismissals. Others are – KC Sangakkara {482}, AC Gilchrist {472} and MV Boucher {424}.

MS Dhoni has effected 88 stumping dismissals in his one-day career prior to the start of the series. He needs two more dismissals for his 90 dismissals. If he effects them, he would then become the second wicketkeeper in ODIs to effect 90 plus stumping dismissals after Kumar Sangakkara. Sangakkara has effected 99 stumping dismissals.

MS Dhoni has an aggregate of 2760 runs as captain in away matches. He needs 240 more runs for his 3000 runs. If he gets it, he would become the second captain to score 3000 plus runs in away soil after Ricky Ponting. Ponting has scored 3490 runs on away soil.

MS Dhoni has scored 23 half centuries away as captain. He needs two more half-centuries for his 25 half-centuries. If he gets it, he would become the first captain ever to score 25 half centuries on away soil. He would go past Ponting has scored 24 fifties on away soil.

MS Dhoni has played 99 innings as wicketkeeper batsman on away soil. When he bats in the first one-day game at Perth will be his 100th innings. He becomes the third batsman in the annals of one-day game to play 100 innings on away soil as a wicketkeeper, batsman. Others are – KC Sangakkara {132} and AC Gilchrist {102}.

MS Dhoni has an aggregate of 189 fours as captain, wicketkeeper, batsman on away soil. He needs eleven more boundaries to complete 200 fours. If he gets it, he would then become the first wicketkeeper batsman ever to score 200 fours on away soil.

MS Dhoni and AB de Villiers are the only two captain wicket keepers to score a century on away soil in the annals of one-day games. One more century by MS Dhoni would give him his second century. He would then become the only captain wicket keeper batsman to score two centuries on away soil.

MS Dhoni has scored 46 half centuries as captain wicket keeper in the annals of one-day games. Four more half centuries would fetch him his 50th half century and with it the distinction of becoming the first ever captain wicket keeper to score fifty-half centuries in the annals of one-day games

MS Dhoni has an aggregate of 3686 runs on away soil prior to the start of this series. He needs 314 more runs for his 4000 runs. If he gets them, he would then become the second Indian batsman to score 4000 plus runs on away soil after SR Tendulkar. SR Tendulkar has scored 5065 runs.

MS Dhoni has effected 33 stumping dismissals on away soil prior to the start of this series. He requires four more stumping dismissals for his 37 stumping dismissals. If he effects them, then he would script a new record for most stumping dismissals on away soil. KC Sangakkara with 36 dismissals to his credit holds the present record for most stumping dismissals on away soil.

MS Dhoni has effected 44 dismissals against Australia prior to the start of this series. Six more dismissals would fetch him 50 dismissals and with it he would become the first Indian wicket keeper to effect 50 plus dismissals against Australia. He would also become the second wicket keeper in the annals of one-day games to effect 50 plus dismissals against Australia after MV Boucher.  MV Boucher has effected 54 dismissals against Australia.

MS Dhoni has pouched 33 catches against Australia prior to the start of this series. He needs seven more catches for his 40 catches. If he takes them, then he would become the third wicketkeeper to pouch 40 plus catches against Australia. Others are – MV Boucher {49} and PJL Dujon {41}

MS Dhoni has scored 1118 runs as captain against Australia in one-day games prior to the start of this series. He needs 28 more runs to go past SP Fleming who has an aggregate of 1145 runs as captain against Australia. If he gets them, he would then become the captain with most runs against Australia.

SP Fleming and MS Dhoni share the record for most fifties as captain against Australia. Both have scored eight fifties. One more fifty for MS Dhoni would fetch him the record of scoring most fifties as captain against Australia.

SP Fleming, BC Lara, IVA Richards. AJ Strauss and MS Dhoni share the record for most half-centuries as captain against Australia. They have scored six half-centuries.  One more half century for MS Dhoni would fetch him the record of scoring most half-centuries as captain against Australia. {Note – Half century means scores between 50 and 99}

SP Fleming and MS Dhoni share the record for most centuries as captain against Australia. Both have scored two centuries, One more century for MS Dhoni would fetch him the record of scoring most centuries as captain against Australia.

MS Dhoni has scored 188 boundary sixes in his one-day career. He needs two more boundary sixes for his 190 boundary sixes. If he scores them, then he would become the third Indian batsman to score 190 plus boundary sixes. Others are – SR Tendulkar {195} and SC Ganguly {190}

RG Sharma has scored 98 boundary sixes in his one-day career. Two more boundary sixes would fetch him 100 boundary sixes. If he gets them, then he would become the seventh Indian and 29th batsman overall to score 100 plus boundary sixes. Others are – SR Tendulkar {195}, SC Ganguly 190}, MS Dhoni {188}, Yuvraj Singh {148}, V Sehwag {136} and SK Raina {120}

MS Dhoni has an aggregate of 5971 runs representing India in a bilateral series prior to the start of this series. He needs 28 runs for his 6000 runs. If he gets them, he would then become the second Indian batsman to score 5000 plus runs in a bilateral series after SR Tendulkar. SR Tendulkar has an aggregate of 7215 runs in bilateral series.

MS Dhoni has an aggregate of 4071 runs as captain in a bilateral series. He needs 132 runs to overhaul the aggregate of RT Ponting who has scored 4202 runs as a captain in bilateral series. If he gets them, then he would own the record for most runs scored by a captain in a bilateral series.

MS Dhoni has played 98 innings as captain in a bilateral series. He needs two more innings for his 100th innings. If he plays two more innings, he would then become the fourth captain in the annals of one-day games to play 100 innings in a bilateral series. Others are – SP Fleming {104}, RT Ponting {104} and GC Smith {103}

MS Dhoni has scored 5971 runs representing India as a wicket keeper batsman in a bilateral series. He requires 29 more runs for his 6000 runs. If he gets it, he would then become the second batsman in the annals of one-day game to score 6000 plus runs representing a cricketing nation after KC Sangakkara of Sri Lanka. KC Sangakkara has an aggregate of 6702 runs while keeping wickets for Sri Lanka.

MS Dhoni and KC Sangakkara share the record for most half-centuries representing their cricketing nations – India and Sri Lanka – respectively in a bilateral series. Both have scored 44 half centuries. One more half century for MS Dhoni would fetch him the record of scoring most half centuries by a wicket keeper batsman representing a nation in a bilateral series.

Rohit Sharma has an aggregate of 492 runs against Australia in a bilateral series. He needs eight more runs for his 500 runs. If he gets them, he would then become the fourth Indian batsman to score 500 runs in a bilateral series against Australia. Others are – SR Tendulkar {833}, MS Dhoni {706} and V Kohli {502}.

MS Dhoni has an aggregate of 706 runs against Australia in a bilateral series. He needs 94 runs for his 800 runs. If he gets them, he would then become the second Indian batsman to score 800 plus runs against Australia in a bilateral series against Australia after SR Tendulkar. SR Tendulkar has an aggregate of 833 runs.

Rohit has scored 23 sixes against Australia in a bilateral series. He needs two more sixes for his 25 sixes. If he scores them, he would then become the first Indian and 3rd batsman overall to score 25 sixes against Australia in a bilateral series. The other two are – EJG Morgan of England {31} and KA Pollard of West Indies {24}

RG Sharma is one of the three batsmen to score 30 plus sixes against Australia in one-day games. Sachin Tendulkar {35}, Eoin Morgan {34} and Rohit Sharma {30} are the batsmen who have scored 30 plus sixes against Australia. Sharma needs six more boundary sixes to own the record for most boundary sixes by a batsman against Australia in one-day games.
