KL Rahul, the Indian wicketkeeper-cum-opener is playing in the best form of his life. He has recently produced some amazing performances both with the bat and the gloves. He did an impressive job in the T20I series against the BlackCaps and the 27-year-old successfully replicated it in the ODI series. Now, Shreyas Iyer, the Indian middle-order batsmen has opened up over his conversation with Rahul while they were batting.

Shreyas Iyer (103) pulled off an amazing ton against New Zealand that helped Team India in posting a good total of 347 runs for a loss for four wickets. He also stitched a brilliant partnership of 132 runs for the fourth wicket with KL Rahul (88). At one point in the first ODI, the Men in Blue were left struggling after they lost their top-order batsmen Virat Kohli, Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw until the 29th over with the scoreboard reflecting 154/3.

Shreyas Iyer talks about his conversation with KL Rahul

Shreyas Iyer said that KL Rahul looked quite settle when he came out to bat in the middle. He was not finding any difficulty while scoring runs against the Kiwi bowling unit. The moment right-hander smacked his first six for the match, the 25-year-old went and asked if he is seeing the ball like a football. And, he nodded with a quirky smile.

“The time KL Rahul came in and the first six he hit, I literally asked him on the field ‘Are you seeing the ball like a football?’ and he just nodded and laughed over it”. The young Indian batsman praised Rahul for his recent performances. Iyer recited the fact that KL Rahul is in great form and there are a lot of things that he as a youngster can learn from the Karnataka batter.

“He’s been in tremendous touch and there’s a lot to learn from him as well, as a batsman, the way he plans his innings and takes on the bowler,” the No. 4 batsman said as quoted by DNA.

After losing the series opener, now Team India is scheduled to play 2nd ODI against New Zealand at Eden Park in Auckland on 8th of February.
