'Are you sure you want to retire?' - Cricket Australia to Peter Siddle after he pulls off a no-look run out in BBL
Peter Siddle registered brilliant bowling figures of 2/30 against Sydney Thunder.
Peter Siddle, the former Australian pacer bid adieu to international cricket recently a couple of days ago. But, it looks like there is still a lot of firepower left in the 35-year-old pacer. Moreover, Cricket Australia also questioned his retirement after he dismissed Usman Khawaja in a prolific fashion that left every player on the field and spectators in ambush.
Big Bash League games are rolling out and fans have witnessed some enthralling encounters so far in the ongoing tournament. Each player in every team is given their best to help their side in winning the matches and qualify for the semi-finals. Either it is fielding, batting or bowling the players have produced some brilliant display. And, one instance happened during the New Year’s Eve game played between Sydney Thunder and Adelaide Strikers.
Cricket Australia comes with a hilarious reaction after Peter Siddle brilliant fielding
During the 14th over, Sydney Thunder opener Callum Ferguson played the ball towards covers and tried to steal a single. There was a small confusion between Ferguson and Usman Khawaja but in the end, the Aussie international was sent back.
Meanwhile, the fielder threw the ball towards the bowler’s end that was brilliantly collected by Peter Siddle as he wiped off the bails from the stumps with a reverse flick. Later on, in the replay, it was clearly visible that the Thunder opener was left well short of the crease. Siddle himself was also surprised by his fielding effort.
Big Bash League took to their Twitter handle and shared a video of the same with a caption that read, “P SIDDY STOP IT! That’s the cheekiest of cheeky run-outs from the Strikers veteran! Khawaja out for 63.”
Cricket Australia also gave a reaction over the same post saying that if Peter Siddle is sure that he wants to retire from international cricket, “Are you sure you want to retire @petersiddle403?!?! #BBL09.”. Coming onto the match, Sydney Thunder defeated Adelaide Strikers by a small margin of 3 runs.
The 35-year-old donned national jersey in 67 Tests, 20 ODIs and 2 T20Is in which he has managed to grab as many as 241 wickets across all the formats.
