Talking about the match, after having won the toss, Australia elected to bat first. The openers David Warner and Marcus Harris stitched in a 50 run partnership before Warner walked back to the hut with 30 runs to his account. A fuller delivery from Stuart Broad which the left-handed batter had struggled with in the past sent him back to the pavilion.
Marnus Labuschagne then stood firm with Harris before the latter was dismissed by James Anderson reducing Australia to 111-2. Soon Labuschagne too had to depart as Mark Wood chimed in with a back-of-length delivery. At stumps on day 1, Australia is 126-3 in the rain-affected match.
