Pat Cummins will take the field for the Australian side for the 3rd Ashes Test match that will commence at Melbourne from 26th December 2021. The Aussie Test skipper was not allowed to take part in the 2nd Ashes Test match after he had come in contact with a Covid-19 positive person on the eve of the 2nd rubber.

Cummins is now in Sydney and will be under isolation. Cricket Australia (CA) revealed that the right arm pacer has tested negative for Covid-19, and can now interact with his family members. However, Cummins has been advised to avoid populated places.

Cricket Australia (CA) also stated that Cummins can now train and work on his fitness ahead of the 3rd Test match that will take place in the city of Melbourne.

“Cummins, who has tested negative to the virus, can mix with family but only in small groups while being urged to avoid any highly populated location, particularly indoors. But being able to train and do fitness work is a bonus for the fast bowler who would have been contained to a hotel room for seven days had he remained in Adelaide,” read a statement on cricket.com.au.

Pat Cummins permitted to travel back home by NSW health officials

Pat Cummins was granted permission to travel back home by the health officials of South Australia. The pacer will take a chartered flight, follow all Covid-19 protocols and reach home.

“Pat Cummins has been granted approval by SA Health to return home to NSW. Under the plan approved by SA Health, he will self-drive from isolation and then, with the appropriate PPE and hygiene controls, take a single charter flight,” read the statement from Cricket Australia.

Australia are currently 1-0 up in the series, after thrashing England at The Gabba by 9 wickets.
