Asia Cup 2018: Indian fans call Shoaib Malik 'jiju' during Indo-Pak clash
He is married to the Indian Tennis star Sania Mirza.
Pakistan endured a very tough outing for the second consecutive time against India in the ongoing Asia Cup in the United Arab Emirates. Their veteran cricketer Shoaib Malik’s form was the only shining light for them in the game. He scored 78 runs during the crisis time in the first innings which propelled Pakistan to 237 runs after opting to bat first. However, some of the Indian fans were heard calling him ‘jiju’ (sister’s husband) during the game and the cricketer also responded by waving the hand.
Malik is married to the Indian Tennis star Sania Mirza and the couple is living together happily for last eight years. Even Sania has admitted to the fact that Pakistan fans call her ‘bhabhi’ and shower a similar kind of love on her as well being the wife of one of the famous cricketers in the country. Shoaib too seems have won the heart of the Indian fans and his performance in the game was definitely praiseworthy.
Malik waves his hands to the fans
While defending a below-par total, Pakistan needed quick wickets up front. But the duo of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan didn’t give them any chance whatsoever. The catches were dropped as well and soon it was clear that Team India was going winning the game one-sided. After the realisation, it was only about enjoying for the fans in the stand.
Being one of the swiftest fielders in the team, Shoaib Malik is always at the boundary. During one of the overs in the second innings, the Indian fans, who were brimming with a prospect of the victory, requested the cricketer to look back at them and in the process, called him ‘jiju’ (which precisely means sister’s husband). Shoaib was quick to respond then and he waved his hand to the fans.
As far as the game was concerned, the Men in Blue clinched the victory by nine wickets easily. Rohit and Dhawan both scored centuries and gunned down the total in the 40th over itself.
