India’s victorious run in the Asia Cup 2018 was a reflection of some exceptional bowling which was well backed by some destructive batting performances from their senior opening duo. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan, the captain and vice-captain held the key with the bat while the middle order struggled throughout the tourney. The duo collectively scored 659 runs in this tournament as India thrashed Pakistan twice in space of four days to register their biggest wins over their arch-rivals.

All the stats and numbers that were recorded by India during their Asia Cup triumph:

0 – India won this tournament without losing a match. They won five matches and tied one game of the six they played. This is only the third time India won an ODI tournament without losing a game. (Min: 5 matches)

They won all the five matches they played during the World Championship in 1985 and in the Champions Trophy 2013. India shared the CT 2002 trophy in which they were undefeated that included two washed out finals against Sri Lanka.

5 – This is the fifth time a team won the Asia Cup remaining unbeaten throughout the tournament. India won the 1984 edition that did not involve a final (two matches played). Sri Lanka in 1997 and 2004 editions remained unbeaten till they won final while Pakistan had such a tournament in 2000.

10 – The ten wickets by Kuldeep Yadav in this tournament are the joint-most by any player. These are also the third most by an Indian in an Asia Cup behind Irfan Pathan and Sachin Tendulkar’s 14 and 12 wickets respectively in 2004.

210 – The 210-run partnership between Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma is India’s first ever double century opening stand in the Asia Cup. It is also India’s second highest stand in the tournament’s history behind the 213-run partnership between Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane for the third wicket in the 2014 edition against Bangladesh.

285/7 – India’s total of 285/7 against Hong Kong in the first game is their highest total in this Asia Cup. This is their lowest total in an ODI series/tournament in more than seven years. (Min: 5 matches played) India had scored the highest total of 251 during the five-match ODI series in the Windies.

342 – Shikhar Dhawan’s tally of 342 runs is the 6th most and the 4th most by an Indian in an Asia Cup. Rohit Sharma’s 317 runs are the second most by a captain in the tournament behind MS Dhoni’s 327 in 2008.

437 – The 437 runs by Dhawan and Rohit pair in this tournament is the highest by any pair in a single edition of the Asia Cup. They went past 404 runs aggregated by Mohammad Hafeez and Nasir Jamshed pair in 2012.
