Bangladesh and Afghanistan have teamed up to beat Sri Lanka in their respective group games and in the process, have sealed their place in the Super Four stage. The game between the two teams on Thursday will be nothing less than a dead rubber now but both the sides would look to get an upper hand over each other. Bangladesh batsmen will have a task on their hands to tackle Afghanistan spinners. However, Mohammad Mithun feels that their tweakers are not unplayable and his team will be able to play them safely.

Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman have been tormenting the oppositions over the years now and the same happened to Sri Lanka the other day. To add to their agony, Mohammad Nabi also hit the straps and bowled beautifully while defending the middling total. Afghanistan have had a lid over Bangladesh in the recent times albeit in the shortest format. It remains to be seen now if they will continue to dominate them in the ODIs.

They are world-class bowlers

Mohammad Mithun played one of the best knocks of his life in the tournament opener and bailed his team out of a precarious situation. He is pretty confident going into their next game and is aware of the testing times he will face against Afghanistan. Mithun praised the likes of Rashid and Mujeeb for the way they’ve been bowling but felt that his team will manage to play them out.

“They [Rashid Khan and Mujeeb Ur Rahman] are world class bowlers but it is not that they are unplayable,” he noted. “Our one-day game is strong, we should not build their spinners up too big in our mind because most of the times that results in the downfall. We need to have a good game plan in place and that should hold us in good stead,” he was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.

Mithun, on the other hand, will be hoping to continue in the same vein and help his team win the game as the tournament progresses.
