The 16th edition of the Asia Cup is scheduled to be held from August 30, with the final scheduled on September 17, 2023. The continental championship will be jointly hosted by Pakistan and Sri Lanka, with the matches to be played in the ODI format. The 2022 runners-up Pakistan and debutants Nepal will lock horns in the curtain raiser which will be contested at the Multan International Cricket Stadium on August 30. Since the inception of the continental event in 1984, as many as 15 editions have been played.

So far, the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) event has brought out three champions. India are the most successful side, having won the Asia Cup trophy seven times. Meanwhile, Sri Lanka and Pakistan are the other two winners, with six and two titles, respectively. Previous editions of the Continental championship have delighted the spectators with countless enthralling matches, which have frequently resulted in the setting and breaking of records.

Given the excellence of the players competing, the upcoming tournament may possibly break certain records.
