Australia vs India: 'Babysitter' Rishabh Pant destroys 'Temporary captain' Tim Paine behind the stumps

Stump mic chatter has been one of the highlights of the ongoing Test series between Australia and India. Interestingly, the ‘good boy’ and Australian captain Tim Paine is in the middle of everything which very few expected. After asking Murali Vijay about his liking towards Virat Kohli, Paine was in Rishabh Pant’s ears on Day three of the MCG Test in the second innings calling him a ‘babysitter’.

After reducing India to 44/5 in the second innings, Australia got a glimmer of hope and then the chatter began. Paine reminded Pant that MS Dhoni will be replacing him in the ODI squad now and while suggesting him to extend his Aussie holiday, the Australian skipper also offered him to play for the Hobart Hurricanes in the Big Bash League (BBL). It didn’t stop here as Paine also invited the youngster for a dinner and called him babysitter.

“I tell you what, big MS (Dhoni) is back in the One-Day squad, we might get (Pant) down to the Hurricanes, this bloke. We need a batter. Fancy that, surely, extend your little Aussie holiday, Beautiful town Hobart too. Get you a nice apartment on the waterfront. Have you over for dinner you Babysit? I’ll take the wife to the movies one night and you’ll look after the kids?” Paine had said.

Pant gives it back

However, Rishabh Pant was certainly going to give it back when Tim Paine came out to bat on the fourth day. Australia were reeling at 135/5 chasing 399 runs and no wonder India were bossing the game. Pant felt this was the right time to get into Paine’s ears. As soon as he came out to bat, the Indian wicket-keeper started chatting and termed the Australia skipper as the special guest on the crease.

He also called him the temporary captain and went on to add that Paine only knows how to talk. “We’ve got a special guest today…..have you heard of a temporary captain ever? You don’t need anything to get him out boys. He loves to talk, that’s the only thing he can do, only talking talking,” Pant was heard as saying on the stump mic.
