The Perth Test match ended with Australia, the hosts, securing a 146 run win over the No.1 ranked Test team- India. This was also Australia’s first Test win since the sandpaper incident in South Africa, earlier this year. The Baggy Greens were in a jubilant mode as they rose into celebration in what was a clinical performance from them.

Right from winning the toss to a splendor start by the openers, Australia ticked all their boxes rightly- restricting India from 173/3 to not allowing their lower order to prolong their stay at the crease. There were a lot of questions raised by commentators over Virat Kohli’s weird selection tactics. The Indian captain went ahead with four pacers instead of a spinner.

Best Test win for Australia in a long time

Shane Warne was all praise for the quality of Test cricket played over the last five days. The 49-year-old has been quite active on Twitter in regards to the ongoing series. He congratulated both the teams for the way they carried themselves on the field. He went on to remark that it was Australia’s best victory in Tests in a long time.

The former Australian spin wizard also lauded Tim Paine for his absolutely positive captaincy. He was also in awe of Nathan Lyon and Usman Khawaja. While the off-spinner picked an eight-wicket haul in the match, Khawaja registered an important half-century in the second innings. Warne was of the opinion that the brilliant start by Aaron Finch and Marcus Harris swung the game in Australia’s way.

Here’s what he tweeted:-

“Congrats to Australia & both teams for a terrific test series so far – well done. Loved it all. That’s the best test win for Australia in a long time. Tim Paine take a bow – we now have a test captain! Lyon & Khawaja outstanding. Finch & Harris 0/100 on day 1 was the difference!!”
