Australia vs India: Jasprit Bumrah bowls a stunning yorker to dismiss Glenn Maxwell
Bumrah bowled a perfect yorker that sneaked through the bat and uprooted the stumps.
After losing two One Day Internationals against Australia on a trot, India registered a victory in the final ODI of the series at Manuka Oval in Canberra to save themselves from an embarrassing whitewash. The visitors registered a comprehensive victory by 13 runs against Men in Yellow. Also, India can finally breathe a sigh of relief as their pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah managed to find his rhythm and consistency.
Meanwhile, Bumrah also ended his poor form in One-day format by taking two wickets. The last time he had picked more than one wicket was 11 matches ago – a three-wicket haul against Sri Lanka at the World Cup 2019. The Ahmedabad-born finished the third ODI against Australia with the figures of 9.3-0-43-2 and took the priced wicket of Glenn Maxwell along with Adam Zampa.
India had managed to post a decent total of 302 on the board on the back of the 150+ run partnership stitched by Hardik Pandya and Ravindra Jadeja. While Hardik played a match-defining knock of unbeaten 92 runs off 76 deliveries, Jadeja remained not out with a score of 66. Skipper Virat Kohli also made a significant contribution to the scoreboard by adding 63 runs.
Glenn Maxwell plays a match-defining knock for Australia
Chasing 303, Australia lost wickets early in the game and was on the verge of collapsing. They were reeling at a score of 158 for 5 in 30.5 overs when all-rounder Glenn Maxwell stepped on to the field and managed to shift the winning momentum towards the hosts. The power-hitter smashed the ball all over the park and brought the equation down to 39 runs required off the last 6 overs. This is when captain Kohli handed the ball to Bumrah in desperate need of a wicket.
While bowling the third ball of the 45th over, Bumrah bowled two wides in an attempt of nailing a wide yorker but he finally managed to take the big wicket of Maxwell in the third attempt. Bumrah bowled a perfect yorker that sneaked through the bat and uprooted the stumps. This was an end to Glenn’s remarkable innings of 59 runs off 38 deliveries including 3 boundaries and 4 maximums.
