Australia vs India: Mumbai Indians troll Tim Paine after failing to score a century
Paine continues to face the heat from Rohit's IPL franchise.
Tim Paine has been on the receiving end ever since he has taken a dig on Rohit Sharma in the first innings of the third Test against India at the MCG. In order to induce a false shot from India’s limited-overs vice-captain, the Australian skipper had got into his ears saying that if he hits a six, then he will support Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
However, an attempt to get Rohit out early failed miserably as he went on to score 63 runs and remained unbeaten with India declaring at 443/7 in the first innings. Ever since then, both Mumbai and Rajasthan Royals are all over Paine on social media taking a hilarious dig at him.
“There is always a toss-up between Mumbai and Royals. If Rohit hits a six here, I’m changing to Mumbai Indians,” Paine was heard as saying to Rohit in the stump mic. Mumbai Indians’ official Twitter handle had then come up with a saintly image of Rohit while the Royals came up with a hilarious poll for the fans stating whom he will be supporting now.
Rohit challenges Paine
Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma also responded to Paine before the start of play on Day three saying that if Tim Paine scores a century then he will put in a word to Mumbai to pick him in the IPL. However, Paine, in the second innings could only score 26 runs off 67 deliveries with four boundaries as Ravindra Jadeja snaffled him. While he gutted it out during his brief stay in the crease, the Aussie skipper couldn’t bail his team out of the trouble.
Mumbai was remembering the challenge Rohit had given to Paine and was quick to troll him on their Twitter handle. They posted the Australian’s picture and termed it as ‘Mission Failed’ announcing that the franchise won’t pick him in the team now.
