Australia vs India: Nathan Lyon shows his superstitious side by changing bails in Brisbane Test
Lyon is playing his 100th Test.
The fourth Test between Australia and India at The Gabba is currently in progress. The visitors are fighting it out despite the likes of Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, and Mitchell Starc striking regularly to keep Australia on top in the first innings. But Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur then batted to keep India alive in the game with a half-century partnership.
Visibly, the hosts were frustrated and the off-spinner Nathan Lyon’s superstitious side was also on show. He is playing his 100th Test but is yet to make an impact he would’ve liked to not only in this match but in the series as well. Lyon is also three wickets away from reaching the milestone of 400 scalps in the longest format of the game.
He would’ve hoped to get to it at some point during the series. But India have tackled him well this time around. With the hope of getting more wickets, Nathan Lyon then, on the third day, before the start of the 77th over hilariously interchanged two bails on the stumps at the bowling end. This could be his superstitious side and might have hoped to break the partnership after that.
However, even then Sundar and Thakur didn’t deter and continued batting the way they did helping India cross the 250-run mark after coming together at 186/6.

Rain in Brisbane on the 4th and 5th day?
Meanwhile, Australia will have to do all the running to eke out a result in the ongoing fourth Test at The Gabba. The rain is in the forecast on Monday and Tuesday with 60% and 80% chances of showers respectively and the hosts will be desperate in the second innings to score runs quickly and then put India under pressure.
The visitors have the prestigious Border Gavaskar Trophy with them at the moment and a drawn series is enough for them to retain it. But Australia will have to win the series to regain the trophy. It will be interesting to see how things pan out over the next two days and Nathan Lyon will play a crucial role if Australia are hoping to win the game.
