The Australia-India Test series is living up to its billing. After an attritional first day which witnessed Cheteshwar Pujara scoring a scintillating century despite his teammates not supporting much. The Aussie bowlers also were spot on from the word go even as they were also aggressive on the field giving a mouthful to the youngster Rishabh Pant. However, Virat Kohli looked keen on returning the favour to his counterpart Tim Paine as he was in his ears soon after coming to bat.

The incident took place in the 58th over of Australia’s innings on the second day. Peter Handscomb got a good nut from Jasprit Bumrah which brought the home team’s captain Tim Paine in the middle. Naturally, he felt the heat in the middle and didn’t look entirely comfortable. He somehow defended the first ball back to the bowler and Kohli, fielding in the slips, was quick to come forward and say something to him.

While it was not clear what he had something to say, Paine didn’t give attention as he had a bigger job on his hands to bring his team back in the game.

Paine gets a ripper from Ishant

However, not indulging in a banter didn’t save the Aussie skipper. Tim Paine could muster only five runs off 20 deliveries before he was snapped up by Ishant Sharma. The full-length delivery just shaped away from the batsman at the last moment as Paine prodded forward in defence only to edge it through to the wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant.

Australia were left reeling at 127/6 at that moment but Pat Cummins has once again proved to be a better batsman down the order. He has lent excellent support to Travis Head who has reached his half-century now and once again, the lower-order is threatening the visitors which was exactly the case when toured England a few months ago.
