Australia vs India: Yuzvendra Chahal and MS Dhoni pull off a trap to bluff Shaun Marsh
Marsh looked good for his 39 runs before getting out.
India and Australia are currently involved in a high octane series decider at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The visitors opted to field first after winning the toss and are bossing the game since then. If Bhuvneshwar Kumar strangled the openers once again, this time it was Yuzvendra Chahal in the middle overs who spun a web around Australia and it all started from Shaun Marsh.
After reducing the home side to 27/2, Usman Khawaja and Marsh had started to look comfortable at the middle after a slow start. Surprisingly, Virat Kohli went for the part-time spin of Kedar Jadhav after the end of the powerplay. His slingy action worked for the first few overs but then the Aussie duo rocked back and started scoring runs comfortably against him.
Chahal strikes in his very first over
Marsh was looking overly comfortable and threatened to take the game away from India. At 99/2 after 23 overs, Yuzvendra Chahal was introduced into the attack for the first time in the series. After a decent first delivery, the leggie bowled the next one on Marsh’s pads who stepped down the track. But after pitching, the ball turned away from him and went wide.
But the batsman was already down the track and the turn surprised him. Meanwhile, MS Dhoni was aware as it might have been the plan. He was quick to collect the ball from wide of the stumps despite being blinded by the batsman and whipped the bails off. Marsh, at the same time, tried to come back to the crease but it was a little too late with his bat could only reach close to the crease and not inside it.
It was a timely breakthrough for the Men in Blue as Australia could never recover from the blow and have been eventually bowled out for 230 runs in the 49th over. Chahal returned with the magical figures of 6/42 in his ten overs and made a statement to stake a permanent claim in the team.
