Australia vs West Indies Head to Head record in T20Is and T20 World Cup
West Indies dominate Australia as far as the head-to-head record in T20Is is concerned.
Australia and West Indies will be up against each other in their respective last league-stage game of the T20 World Cup 2021. The encounter takes place at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Saturday (November 6). Having won three of their first four games, the Aussies are on the right track to qualify for the semi-finals. On the other hand, West Indies are out of the semi-final race, having lost three of their four games so far. Considering the form and recent performances, the Aussies would take the field as favourites. However, writing the two-time champions off won’t be wise for them.
Head to Head record:
West Indies dominate Australia as far as the head-to-head record in T20Is is concerned. These two teams have played 16 T20I matches so far. Out of which 10 have been won by the Caribbean side while the Aussies have won the remaining six games. As far as T20 World Cups are concerned, these two teams have met five times and the head-to-head record stands 3-2in West Indies’ favour.

Top Performers:
Veteran West Indies batter Chris Gayle boasts of an exceptional record against the Aussies. He has scored the most runs (405) in the clashes. Among active cricketers, the southpaw is followed by David Warner (311) and Dwayne Bravo (236). Hayden Walsh Jr. tops the bowling charts. He has picked up the most wickets (12). The left-arm spinner is followed by Mitchell Marsh (8) and Dwayne Bravo (8).
Last T20 World Cup meeting:
As mentioned above these two sides met five times in T20 World Cups. The last of those meetings took place in the 2014 edition. Although the Aussies lost wickets at regular intervals, many of their batters made crucial contributions. Brad Hodge and Glenn Maxwell were the chief contributors as the Aussies posted 178/8 in their allotted 20 overs.
Chasing the challenging target, Chris Gayle gave West Indies a phenomenal start. However, the Aussies looked in command with the required run rate constantly going up. Nevertheless, cameos from Dwayne Bravo and skipper Daren Sammy meant West Indies crossed with two balls to spare, winning the contest by six wickets.
