Australian journalist Dennis Freedman insults Indian map, Indian Twiterrati goes mental
He had earlier attracted controversy with a post about Virat Kohli.
Renowned Australian cricket writer Dennis Freedman has taken the internet by a riot after he shared a post on the micro-blogging site Twitter, insulting the Indian map. Dennis, who is well-known for his satirical pieces on cricket has sparked a major rift with his controversial tweet during the 3rd ODI fixture between India and Australia which was played at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on September 24.
Dennis on Sunday took to his Twitter handle to share the map of India which was missing the state of Jammu and Kashmir. He did not stop at that and even drew an analogy of the country’s map to that of a woman’s undergarments. He captioned the image as: “Just got sent this by a woman on Facebook. Not sure why she put a map of India in the pic though.”
Earlier this month on September 12, Dennis had tried to troll Indian skipper Virat Kohli by calling him a ‘Sweeper’. The writer posted a picture of Virat with a broom in his hand and captioned it as, “Sweepers clean the stadium in readiness for the World XI match”. His reference to the Indian skipper as a sweeper angered Indian cricket fans including veteran spinner Harbhajan Singh, who defended Kohli and called Dennis “a stupid guy.” He proudly flaunts Harbhajan’s description of him on his Twitter bio.
The India team, on the other hand, registered a comfortable victory last night after they thrashed the Australians by five wickets despite Aaron Finch’s 124 runs knock. With yesterday’s win, the Men in Blue clinched the five-match series by 3-0. All-rounder Hardik Pandya for his brilliant show with the bat and a wicket with the ball was awarded the Man of the Match.
Here is Dennis’ Tweet
Following the tweet, a mini-war started on social media as the Indian Twiteratti was left extremely angered. Some of the reactions were nothing short of hilarious. Guess Dennis has found this way of offending fans an easier way to popularity
