Back in 2019, Neroli Meadows, the high-profile sports journalist, parted ways with Fox Sports. The popular presenter worked with the organisation for more than a decade and was, reportedly, removed due to “cost-cutting” measures. It goes without saying that she’s one of the most respected voices in the industry, bearing in mind her experience.

She has played major roles in the AFL and also cricket, including the World Cup. A number of times, she has been praised as one of “the best in the business”. After she was dropped from Fox Sports, cricket writer Peter Lalor was shocked and said that Meadows knew football and cricket “inside out”.

“I’ve watched her work on cricket for over 10 years. Neroli is one of the best in the business. Hard working, smart and well connected. Breaks news. Gets great interviews. Knows footy & cricket inside out. This is terrible,” Lalor wrote.

However, lady luck has smiled on Meadows as she has now found a contract in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The tournament gets underway on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and it could be another feather in Meadow’s cap.

Earlier, one of the fans called for her inclusion in the IPL. She is now raring to show her calibre in the 2020 edition of the T20 tournament. She replied to the supporter’s tweet and expressed her eagerness to be a part of the league in India.

She replied to the old tweet and wrote, “Sounds like I owe you! Haha I can’t wait to be involved – thanks for the support!! See you on the 19th!”

In the last few years, women’s broadcasting has come a long way. The likes of Isa Guha, Lisa Sthalekar, Charlotte Edwards among others can be seen, plying their trade efficiently in commentary boxes. From the IPL, World Cup to the Ashes, the female presenters haven’t flattered to deceive.

As far as the 2020 IPL is concerned, the opening match will be played between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium amidst the coronavirus pandemic.
