Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has moved up in the all-time ICC ODI Batters Rankings, and taken the 15th position surpassing Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar. He gained some big points during the recent developments after his iconic performance against Australia in their home series.
After losing the three-match Test series by 1-0, Babar led his team from the front in the three-match ODI series and went on to hit two centuries in three games and as a result, won the series 2-1. Earning points after the sensational game, Azam took his rating points to 891, the 15th best ranking for a batter in the history of ICC ODI ranking.
Babar’s consistency might lead him to enter the top-10 of the list soon

Tendulkar, who was previously at the 15th spot with 887 points has now slipped down to the 16th place after Babar Azam replaced him. Former West Indies’ prolific batter Sir Viv Richards holds the top spot in the rankings list with a total of 935 points to his name. The top 10 list witnesses only one Indian batter, and the only active player from the lot, in the form of Virat Kohli who holds his place at No. 6 with 911 points.
Babar Azam has been Pakistan’s most consistent player across all formats of the game. In the year 2019, he bagged 1092 runs in 20 innings, followed by 221 runs in the year 2020 in just three ODIs played. He played six innings in 2021 and smashed 405 runs. In the current year, that is 2022, he has played three innings so far and managed to score 276 runs off it.
The skipper will keep up with his form in the upcoming games when Pakistan faces West Indies and Netherlands for the ODI series. Babar Azam is expected to score even more runs while going out to bat, and there are high chances of him entering the top 10 of the ICC rankings list soon. The list includes only two Pakistani cricketers above Babar, namely Zaheer Abbas and Javed Miandad who are placed at No. 2 and No. 7 respectively.
