'Ban all Chinese products' - Harbhajan Singh lashes out after 20 soldiers attain martyrdom in India-China border face-off
Along with Harbhajan, a plethora of cricketers reacted to the news and paid tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in the clash.
In the violent clashes between soldiers of India and China on Monday, at least 20 Indian soldiers attained martyrdom in the face-off along the LAC in Ladakh’s Galwan Valley. The rising tension between both countries led to the clash, which is the first deadly incident in the border area in at least 45 years.
The pertaining border stand-off between both the countries took an ugly turn as Indian, as well as Chinese soldiers, suffered casualties. The Indian Army initially said three of its soldiers had been killed, adding that both sides suffered casualties. But later, it was clarified that 17 other Indian troops, who were also critically injured in the incident, attained martyrdom, taking the total to 20.
Twitter, in no time, erupted after the news of the clash spread like wildfire. Many Indians bashed China for the recent activities of intruding the Indian territory. In the wake of the face-off where at least 20 Indian soldiers attained martyrdom, India international Harbhajan Singh even urged everyone to put a ban on all Chinese products. Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), on Wednesday, also asked for a boycott of 450 products which are imported from China.
This is not the first time when the off-spinner has lashed out at China. A few weeks ago, Harbhajan had blasted the country for its spread of novel coronavirus, which is currently wreaking havoc across the world.
Shikhar Dhawan also paid tribute to the Indian soldiers
Along with Harbhajan, a plethora of cricketers reacted to the news and paid tribute to soldiers who lost their lives in the face-off. Shikhar Dhawan condoled their demise and said that it’s a sacrifice which will never be forgotten.
“A sacrifice that will never be forgotten by the nation. Heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the Indian Army officer and the two soldiers. Saluting your bravery, Jai Hind!#GalwanValle,” wrote the left-handed opener.
Meanwhile, former India opener Virender Sehwag also lashed out at China for the clashes and said thing like this is the last thing we need at a time when the whole world is battling against COVID-19 pandemic.
“Heartfelt condolences to Col. Santosh Babu who made the Supreme Sacrifice in action at the #GalwanValley . At a time, when the world is dealing with a serious pandemic, this is the last thing we need. I hope Cheeni sudhar jaayein,” tweeted Sehwag.
