Bangladesh, led by new T20 captain Shakib al Hasan, will begin their Asia Cup 2022 campaign when they rub shoulders with the in-form Afghanistan side in Match 3 in Sharjah on August 30, 2022. Shakib is fourth on the list for scoring 137 runs in eight innings. In terms of wickets, spin magician Rashid Khan is on the top of the chart for picking up 14 wickets at a stellar average of just 10.28 with an economy rate of 5.53 and best figures of 4/12. He is followed by Shakib who has taken ten wickets and another Afghani spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman who has seven wickets to his name. BAN vs AFG in the last meeting: The Bangla Tigers and Afghanistan last met in a T20 international in March this year in Mirpur in Bangladesh. The hosts batted first and managed to post only 115/9 in their allotted 20 overs. Fazalhaq Farooqi and Azmatullah Omarzai took three wickets apiece to restrict the Tigers. In reply, Hazratullah Zazai and Usman Ghani scored 59 and 47 respectively as Afghanistan sealed a comfortable eight-wicket victory.
