Bangladesh Cricket Board announces squad for South Africa tour
Mahmudullah comes in place of Shakib
After a spirited performance against the Australians at home, the focus of Bangladesh cricket moves to South Africa where the Tigers play at Proteas backyard in two Test matches, Three ODIs and two T20Is. The last time they toured South Africa was back in 2008-09 season, in which they didn’t manage to win any matches.
Looking at the gruelling schedule ahead and the workload on players, BCB has given rest to their talismanic all rounder Shakib al Hasan who was brilliant in the Dhaka Test match and responsible for the Bangladeshi win. Australia came back in the Second Test at Chittagong to level the series by 1-1.
Mahmudullah Riyadh makes a comeback in the Test outfit to strengthen their batting in place of Shakib al Hasan. The name of Anamul Haque was recommended by BCB Chief Nazmul Hasan Papon. That said, the selectors have stuck with Imrul Kayes and Soumya Sarkar who have been woefully out of form.
The other new name in the Bangladesh squad is that of Shubhashish Roy who comes in place of Nasir Hossain who hilariously mocked the standing umpire Nigel Llong right beside him. Rubel Hossain also makes a comeback in the whites after missing out on the Australian series.
BAN Test Squad:
