Bangladesh's first Test centurion reveals the best national batsman of all time
The first Test centurion of Bangladesh cricket also shared the memories of that inaugural Test where he had created history.
The Bangladesh team, of late, has enjoyed tremendous success. The country has witnessed the rise of some quality players, which has in turn enriched the national team. Former Bangladesh batsman Aminul Islam Bulbul who scored the maiden century for Bangladesh in Test cricket, recently in an interview revealed who is the best batsman of Bangladesh cricket considering all the generations.
The Bangladeshi great singled out wicketkeeper-batsman Mushfiqur Rahman from the current crop of players. Rahim, who made his debut at the age of 16 against England, was the youngest player to debut at Lord’s. Over the years he has shown great technique behind the stumps and is known for being dependable and gritty with the willow.
Mushfiqur’s keeping duties don’t allow him to bat higher up in the order, although Bangladesh would certainly want him to. Being the captain, the best batsman and the wicketkeeper has to shoulder immense pressure, but Mushfiqur is among the brightest stars in a rapidly improving Bangladesh team. To allow him more freedom as a batsman, the selectors decided to relieve him off captaincy duties.
Picks Minhajul Abedin Nannu
However, Aminul also said if he had to pick only one cricketer he would pick former Bangladesh captain as well as the current chief selector of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), Minhajul Abedin Nannu.
Speaking to Dhaka Tribune the 49-year-old great said, “If you consider all the generations, then I can choose three batsmen as the best ever. First, there was Raqibul Hasan. Then there was Minhajul Abedin Nannu. Then, among the current generation, I will choose Mushfiqur Rahim.”
The first Test centurion of Bangladesh cricket also shared the memories of that inaugural Test where he had created history. Aminul revealed, “I don’t know whether it’s the best innings of my career or not. But one thing I can say, it was a signature innings in my life. A lot of people helped me at that time
