Bangladesh v England, 2nd Test, Day 1 - Statistical Highlights
Bangladesh opener Tamim Iqbal was the star of the day with the bat. He and partner Mominul Haque scored freely on a surface where most other batsmen found batting really difficult. Tamim scored a century, his 7th in Tests while Mominul was dismissed for 66. Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes shared all the Bangladesh wickets among themselves as Ali grabbed a five-wicket haul.
In their reply, England were off to a poor start as the Bangladeshi spin duo of Mehedi Hasan and Shakib Al Hasan made three early in-roads before the end of the day’s play. Here are all the stats and records from the day.

170 – Partnership stand between Tamim Iqbal and Mominul Haque is the 2nd highest stand for them for any wicket against England in Tests. Tamim added 185 along with Imrul Kayes at Lord’s in 2010.
2004 – The last time before this game, England picked up last nine wickets in an innings for less than 50 runs in Tests was against West Indies at Kingston in 2004. The West Indies added 34 runs in that game.
2006 – The last time before Moeen Ali, an England spinner picked up 5-fer on the opening day of a Test was Monty Panesar in 2006 vs Australia at Perth.
2012 – The last time before this game, England spinners picked up at least 5 wickets on the opening day of a Test match was in 2012 vs India at Mumbai.
2013 – The last instance of a team losing its last nine wickets for less than 50 runs was also by Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe in 2013 at Harare.
