Windies managed to take something from the long tour of Asia as they defeated Bangladesh in the T20I series decider by 50 run-margin. In the final game of the 3-match series, Windies got off to a flyer thanks to Evin Lewis’ blitz. The out of form batsman struck 89 in only 36 balls with six fours and eight sixes. However, the Windies were bowled out for only 190 from 122/2 in the 10th over. Bangladesh were cursing at 62/1 after four overs before they collapsed. After the controversial no-ball calls, the hosts kept losing wickets to be bowled out for 140.

Lewis goes big:

4 – Number of times Evin Lewis has hit eight and more sixes in a T20I inning; the most instances for any player. Chris Gayle hit 8+ sixes in a T20I innings on three occasions.


18 – Lewis’ 18-ball fifty is the 3rd fastest fifty for the Windies in T20I cricket. Shai Hope’s 16-ball fifty in the first T20I of this series is the fastest while Chris Gayle’s 17-ball effort in the 2015 Cape Town T20I against South Africa is the second fastest.


Keemo bounces back strong:

5/15 – Keemo Paul’s 5/15 in this match are the best bowling figures for a Windies bowler in T20I cricket. Darren Sammy took 5/26 against Zimbabwe in the 2010 Port of Spain T20I which was the only other 5-wicket haul in T20Is for the Windies.


A first in T20I cricket:

2Shakib Al Hasan (2nd T20I) and Keemo Paul (3rd T20I) claimed five-wicket hauls in this series. This is the first bilateral T20I series to witness two five-wicket hauls. 2012, 2014 and 2016 WT20 editions are the other T20I series/tournaments to record two five-fers.


Another record in Shakib’s bag:

8 – Shakib Al Hasan claimed eight wickets in this series alongside scoring 103 runs. These are the most wickets for a captain in a T20I series/tournament where they scored 100+ runs. Mohammad Hafeez scored 164 runs and claimed five wickets during the 2012 WT20 while leading Pakistan.


35 – Shakib’s 35 wickets in T20I format in Bangladesh are the most T20I wickets for any player in a country. He surpassed Tim Southee’s 33 T20I wickets in New Zealand.


The opening stand that makes the difference:

13.8Evin Lewis and Shai Hope’s pair shared 145 runs in this three-match series at a run rate of 13.8. No other pair has scored more runs in a T20I series/tournament at a better run rate.

The duo added 76 runs in five overs at 15.2 in the 3rd T20I. No other opening pair added more runs in a T20I at a better run rate.


Sharing the wickets:

3 – Bangladesh’s Mahmudullah, Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman took three wickets piece. This is the only the 3rd instance in T20I cricket where three players claimed three-wicket hauls in the same innings.

South Africa during the Dhaka T20I against Bangladesh and Scotland during the Malahide T20I against Ireland in 2015 had three bowlers taking three-fers.


A rare win for the Windies:

2 – This was only the 2nd time since the 2016 WT20 that Windies have won a 3+ match bilateral T20I series. They defeated Afghanistan 3-0 in the home series in 2017. The last time they won a 3+ match bilateral T20I away from home was at the start of 2015 in South Africa by 2-1.
