Bangladesh vs Windies: Shimron Hetmyer unhappy after not being rewarded a boundary
According to the rules it was a dot ball since the umpire made the decision before the ball crossed the boundary rope.
After getting bashed by Windies in the first T20I, Bangladesh came back strongly to level the series 1-1. Batting first at Dhaka, the hosts put up a mammoth total of 211/4 on the board. Liton Das led the charge with a fascinating knock of 60(34). The duo of Shakib Al Hasan and Mahmudullah put up an unbeaten 91 run partnership from just 42 balls to take Bangladesh post 200.
On the other hand, the Windies began well but kept losing wickets at regular intervals. While Rovman Powell went on to score a half-century, the rest of the batting lineup failed to prolong their stay at the crease. They eventually faltered and ended up getting all out for 175 runs. The batting unit failing to last even 20 overs. Shakib went on to take a five-wicket haul as well.
Shimron Hetmyer not pleased with the umpires decision
While the match was nothing short of entertainment, there was some drama too that transpired during the game. Of late, Shimron Hetmyer was all over the news after earning a 4.2 crores contract with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL. However in yesterday’s encounter it was for a completely different reason. The incident took place in the 8th over bowled by Mehidy Hasan.
The Windies pinch hitting sensation was left dumbfounded after an LBW decision cost him a boundary. Hetmyer inside edged one towards his pad as the umpire adjudged him out. The 21-year-old took the review and the decision was overturned. Since the ball had gone for a boundary, Hetmyer expected a four. However, according to the rules, it was a dot ball since the umpire made the decision before the ball crossed the boundary rope. Surely, Hetmyer wasn’t quite glad about the decision as it left him in a sour mood.
