Bangladesh's Nurul Hasan ruled out of Asia Cup 2022 with finger injury

Bangladesh’s wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan will not be part of the upcoming Asia Cup 2022 due to a finger injury. The 28-year-old suffered the injury in the second game of the three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe and was ruled out of that series as well. He underwent surgery in Singapore and the Bangladesh Cricket Board confirmed on Monday (August 8) that he will take around four weeks to recover. Hasan has been a revelation so far after his return to the national side and was named the skipper of the side for the Zimbabwe T20Is until the injury forced him out. Bangladesh has had a long list injury list. including Liton Das (hamstring), Mustafizur Rahman (ankle), Mushfiqur Rahim (thumb) and Shoriful Islam (knee), Yasir Ali and Mohammad Saifuddin. Meanwhile, the BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury gave the details regarding Nurul’s injury and noted he would require three to four weeks to recover. The Asia Cup starts on the 27th of August and will go on until the 11th of September. Bangladesh are yet to announce their squad for the multi-nation tournament. “A closed reduction and pinning procedure was performed on Sohan’s left index finger by hand surgeon Dr Anthony Foo at the Raffles Hospital this afternoon. Recovery is estimated at three to four weeks,” BCB chief physician Debashish Chowdhury said in a statement as quoted by Cricbuzz. Meanwhile, Bangladesh lost the first two ODIs against Zimbabwe in the ongoing three-match series with one more match to go. Sikandar Raza scored two scintillating centuries in both games and his all-round efforts helped in securing a series victory for his country. Bangladesh did not have many answers to the inspired effort from the hosts and the final game is scheduled to take place on August 10 (Wednesday). “All credit to Zimbabwe, they were the better team this series. We have to pull up our socks. We haven’t played our best cricket and that’s why we are in this position,” Tamim Iqbal said after Bangaldesh’s five-wicket loss on August 7 in Harare.
