Rahul Dravid, the former Indian cricketer, has been an epitome of perseverance, grit, and determination. He sports an unflappable mindset and hardly allows the situation to get the better of his nerves. Quite naturally, he has a significance fan-base and many people look up to him and his work ethics for inspiration, current Indian batsman Karun Nair is one of them.

Nair made his debut back in 2016 in the Mohali Test versus England where he racked up a stupendous triple century and also becoming only the second triple-centurion for his nation in the format. However, he couldn’t carry forward his form and was subsequently sidelined after Australia’s tour of India back in March last year. Recently, Nair mentioned Dravid, who also played for Karnataka, as his idol.

“Rahul bhai has taught me a lot”- Nair

“Like most of my contemporaries, I have grown up watching Dravid and he has always been my idol. I must admit that he is someone I look up to. I have always idolised him for his ethics, both on and off the field. As a cricketer, he has always motivated me.

I still remember the moment when I first saw Rahul Dravid in person. It was during a Test match between India and Australia at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. While he was a star cricketer, I was chosen as one of the ball boys for that Test,” Nair was quoted as saying in Sportstar.

That’s how I got an opportunity to watch him and those moments were really exciting for a young cricketer like me. I even clicked a few pictures with the man and that made it even more special. Over the years, Rahul bhai has taught me a lot and he is the man I look up to for inspiration, ” he added.

Nair made a comeback to the Test squad in India’s recently concluded match versus Afghanistan at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where he has grown up playing cricket. Unfortunately, he didn’t find a place in the eleven. However, the Test squad for England in August hasn’t yet been announced and Nair would want to get selected and stake his claim back into the eleven.
