Team India registered an easy victory over West Indies during the third and final ODI match played on July 27 (Wednesday). In a match affected by rain, the visitors went on to win the contest by 119 runs and completed a white-wash against the home team.

Meanwhile, West Indies head coach Phil Simmons has named two Indian youngsters, Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj for their yet another series loss. The right-handed played an excellent knock of unbeaten 98 runs during the third match and was also adjudged player of the series for his vital contributions throughout the series. Similarly, Siraj gave an excellent start with the ball during the third ODI match as he scalped two crucial wickets in one over and jolted the home team right at the start of the chase. Siraj finished with four wickets in three ODI matches.

I think their (India) bowling stood out more than ours: Phil Simmons

“One thing? there are two. Batting of Shubman Gill and the bowling of Mohammed Siraj. Siraj was excellent in closing out the first game in the last over. He was good with the new ball today. Shardul Thakur was also good. I think their bowling stood out more than ours,” Simmons said in the post-match press conference in Trinidad after India won the third ODI by 119 runs.

“It (rain) did play a part, but it was the same for both the teams. We can’t use that as an excuse that the rain disturbed us. I think we lost too many wickets in the chase. We were on target there with ten overs left, but we just lost too many wickets,” Simmons said.

India and West Indies will take on each other in a five-match T20I series slated to start on July 29 (Friday). Team India will have the services of their permanent skipper Rohit Sharma and the wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant during the T20I fixtures and will back themselves to win the T20I series as well.
