BBL 2018-19: Full schedule of the upcoming season
The event will be staged for a couple of months.
The Big Bash League is one of the biggest extravaganzas in the history of Australian cricket. It started back in 2011 and Sydney Sixers were crowned the champions of the inaugural edition of the tournament. They humbled the Perth Scorchers by seven wickets at the Western Australian Cricket Academy (WACA) in a rather one-sided encounter.
The event didn’t look back ever since and has grown leaps and bounds over the years. Last year, Adelaide Strikers, captained by Travis Head, won the championship, comprehensively beating the George Bailey-led Hobart Hurricanes by 25 runs. Jake Weatherald was crowned as the Player of the Match while opening batsman D’Arcy Short became the Player of the Series.
It was also the maiden occasion when the strikers came out trumps. The Scorchers have won the tournament three times and is the most successful team ever since the event’s inception. The eighth season of the league is set to be hosted by the end of the year. To the delight of the cricket fanatics in Australia as well across the globe, the schedule for the upcoming season has been announced.
It’s a two-month affair in which 59 matches will be played between ten participating teams. While 7 & Fox will broadcast the matches in Australia, the Indian telecasters haven’t been announced yet. The tournament appeals to the mass and is again expected to be a grand success.
