BCB clarifies Shakib Al Hasan scored just close to the benchmark score of 11 in the beep test and not 13.7
The pacer Mehedi Hasan emerged as the top-scorer of the mandatory fitness Test with 13.6 points while Nihad Uz Zaman stands second in the list with a score of 13.4.
Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been hogging all the limelight since his return to the Bangladesh cricket team after serving a suspension period of one year. The star all-rounder had created a stir earlier in the day when it was announced that he has scored a stunning 13.7 in the beep test, highest among all the players.
However, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) clarified that Shakib scored just close to the benchmark score of 11 in the beep test today and is not the top-scorer. A total of 113 players were called up for the Beep Test for the process of trial in light of the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup. Shakib was expected to show up for his fitness test on Monday, but it got postponed for Wednesday.
Earlier in the day, BCB fitness trainer Tushar Kanti Howlader had announced that Shakib had scored above 13 points in the beep test. However, later it was revealed that the ace all-rounder obtained a stunning 13.7 — highest among the players who gave the beep test as a prerequisite for taking part in the upcoming Bangabandhu T20 Cup later this month.

This news had created a massive hype in the cricket fraternity as many had raised doubts over the fitness of Shakib as he wasn’t active in the game for the past year. But disregarding all the statements made regarding Shakib’s beep Test score, the Bangladesh board classified that the cricketer just managed to pass the benched score of 11.

Al Hasan has been training at BKSP (Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan) since September and is currently gearing up for the Bangabandhu T20 Cup, with the players’ draft for the tournament set to take place on November 12 (Thursday). Along with the all-rounder, as many as 100 cricketers are named in the draft list for Bangabandhu T20 Cup. Shakib is listed as an ‘A’ grade cricketer in the same list.
