BCB wants more India-Bangladesh fixtures in new FTP

Future Tours Programme(FTP) for the period 2019-2023 is set to be confirmed in the ongoing five-day ICC meeting. Bangladesh has improved over the years, as they have started to give stiff competition to traditional powerhouses of the game. They even reached the semi-finals of the ICC Champions Trophy. BCB hope that they will get more matches against big teams like India in the next FTP

BCB wants series in both India and Bangladesh

BCB executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said that Bangladesh is expecting to get more matches in the next FTP. He added that he is hopeful that there will be more matches between India and Bangladesh in both the countries.

“We are expecting some more matches in the next ICC FTP cycle. There will be more number of India-Bangladesh matches in both India and Bangladesh. We are hopeful,” Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) executive Nizamuddin Chowdhury said as quoted by News 18.

The full member nations of the ICC have already agreed upon the FTP for the period 2019-2023. The boards need to submit a document that they will follow the programme. The document would be submitted in the ICC meeting on 25th or 26th April.

Bilateral relations between two countries

India recently hosted Bangladesh for a one-off Test for the first time in history. India and Bangladesh have played 6 Test series among themselves. The BCB secretary believes that Bangladesh cricket is improving and claimed that they deserved to rub the shoulders with the best in business.

He argued that quality players like Shakib Al Hasan and Tamim Iqbal should tour India more, so they can play against the world-class players like Virat Kohli and others. Chowdhury was further asked if there was any other agenda to address at the ICC meeting. The BCB secretary said that the issues to be discussed are general and specific in nature.
