The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had done most things in its power to ensure that the Duleep Trophy 2016-17 is a successful one since the board was experimenting with the pink ball and introducing day/night cricket for the first time in its domestic circuit.

Most of the top Indian players were advised to be available for the tournament. With big names like Yuvraj Singh, Suresh Raina and Gautam Gambhir leading the three teams India Red, India Blue and India Green respectively it is all set to be one of the most exciting domestic tournaments in recent times.

The Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA) had requested the BCCI to allow the players from the association to participate in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) if they aren’t a part of the playing XI in their Duleep Trophy teams. TNCA today announced that the BCCI has allowed the Tamil Nadu players participating in the Duleep Trophy to play for their respective franchises in the inaugural edition of TNPL.

The players are allowed to join their TN Premier League squads in case they are not picked in the playing XI and can also travel back during the non-match days at the Duleep Trophy. Additionally, players from the team that doesn’t qualify for the Duleep Trophy final will be allowed to join their respective franchise.

The TNCA in its press release thanked the BCCI for allowing the same and appreciates the support that the TN Premier League has received from multiple state associations from around the country.
