BCCI announce squads for Deodhar Trophy, Irani Trophy
Ravichandran Ashwin will be leading the India A team in Deodhar Trophy.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the squads for the upcoming domestic competitions. The All India Senior Selection Committee named the India A and India B squads for the DB Deodhar rophy. The tournament will be played in Dharamsala in the first week of March. The Deodhar Trophy is scheduled to be played from March 4 to March 8.
Both these teams will be playing against the domestic one-day champions Karnataka. Karnataka recently won the premier domestic one-day competition, the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Karnataka beat Saurashtra in the finals of the tournament by 41 runs.
Coming to the teams, the India A will be led by Ravichandran Ashwin. It will certainly be a good challenge for Ashwin who has been fighting for a spot in India’s limited overs spot in the recent times. Furthermore, he was recently appointed as the new captain of the Kings XI Punjab side in the IPL. Young Indian U19 cricketers Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill have also been named in the India A side.
Another Indian international, Mohammad Shami, will be seen playing for India A. In the India B team, it will be Shreyas Iyer who will be leading the side. The team boasts of some quality domestic talent. The likes of Ankit Bawne and Hanuma Vihari have been rewarded for their perennial good show.

R Ashwin (c), Prithvi Shaw, Unmukt Chand, Akshdeep Nath, Shubman Gill, Ricky Bhui, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan (wk), Krunal Pandya, Mohammad Shami, Navdeep Saini, Basil Thampi, Kulwant Khejroliya, Amandeep Khare, Rohit Rayudu.
India B Squad for Deodhar Trophy:
Shreyas Iyer (c), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Ankit Bawne, Manoj Tiwary, Siddhesh Lad, KS Bharat (wk), Jayant Yadav, D Jadeja, Hanuma Vihari, Siddarth Kaul, Khaleel Ahmed, Harshal Patel, Umesh Yadav, Rajat Patidar.
Meanwhile, the selectors have also named the squad of the Rest of India for the Irani Trophy. ROI will take on the Ranji Trophy 2017-18 winners Vidarbha. Karnataka batsman Karun Nair has been named as the captain of the side. Prithvi Shaw finds a place in this squad as well. Also, Mayank Agarwal, who has had a dream season thus far, has been rewarded with a spot. Indian veteran Ravindra Jadeja is also a part of the 15-member squad.
