BCCI announces revised schedule of Sri Lanka's tour of India

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced a revised scheduled of Sri Lanka’s upcoming tour of India in February-March. As per the initial plans, the tour was to get underway with a two-match Test series, followed by three T20Is. Now, the T20I leg, which gets underway on February 24, will take place before. Lucknow will host the first T20I while the next two encounters will be played in Dharamsala.

The first Test, which will mark Virat Kohli’s 100th appearance in the format, will get underway in Mohali on March 4. The second and final Test will be played from March 12 in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, it was earlier learnt that Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have requested the BCCI to tweak the schedule in order to manage the players’ bubble-to-bubble transfer from Australia, against whom the team will play five T20Is until February 20.

Team India currently battling it out against West Indies  

As of now, the Men in Blue are gearing up to take on West Indies in a three-match T20I series, getting underway on February 16. Having clinched the preceding ODI series 3-0, the Rohit Sharma-led side would be high on confidence and would like to shine against the Lankan Lions as well. On the other hand, Sri Lanka, on expected lines, are struggling against the Aussies.

Having lost the first three matches of the series, the visitors have already lost the series and have nothing but pride to play for, It must be noted that a T20 World Cup is scheduled to take place later this in year in Australia. Hence, both teams might look at this series as an ideal preparation chance.

Speaking of the last meeting between these two sides, India, with a second-stringed team, travelled Sri Lanka last year for three ODIs and as many T20Is. While India won the ODI leg 2-1, Sri Lanka clinched the T20Is by the same margin.
