BCCI appoints new COO for the Indian Premier League

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has appointed Hemang Amin as the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Amin has served at different posts in the Indian board for quite a few years and was the Assistant General Manager of Finance, Commercial & Events recently. It has been said that Amin brings along with him a wide range of experience spanning across a variety of horizons, which makes him an ideal choice for the coveted post.

IPL reached landmark ten years in the 2017 edition. Only a few years after its inception, the Indian domestic Twenty20 league became one of the most followed cricket leagues in the world, and also the one that pays the best. What makes IPL stand-out among other domestic leagues in the world is that lots of international stars partake in it, which attracts a global audience.

The BCCI acting president CK Khanna said that Amin played an important role during the transition period of the IPL and his involvement with the board and the league helped bring about a change in the strategies. “Mr. Amin has been instrumental during a pivotal transition period for the IPL. His leadership over the past 7 years has shaped IPL’s strategy, laying a strong foundation for future course, improvements and success,” said Khanna

Shukla in favour of Amin 

Meanwhile, IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla also praised the role Amin has played in the board since the last seven years.

“Mr. Hemang Amin is a wonderful executive with an incredible breadth of experience and relationships across a variety of markets and our stakeholders. Having worked with him firsthand, I know he will be a fine leader for the IPL and will bring unmatched innovation, passion, and vision to the role,” said the Chairman on the new appointment.
