BCCI likely to hire special agency for players' grievances after Wriddhiman Saha's tweet
A close BCCI source added that many other cricketers might have had the similar experiences in past.
In recent developments surrounding Wriddhiman Saha’s controversial tweet, BCCI is planning to hire an agency to deep dive into all these kinds of matters. It was only a few days back when wicketkeeper-batter Saha took to his Twitter to inform all that he has been threatened by a journalist for an interview over phone texts.
Saha seemed shocked with the messages he received and added to his post that this is not what he expects after giving years of service to Indian cricket. Right after the incident, many cricketers came in support of Saha and publicly criticized the reporter involved in this case.
“After all of my contributions to Indian cricket, this is what I face from a so-called respected journalist! This is where the journalism has gone,” Saha had tweeted.
However, it has now been reported that BCCI is set to hire an agency for dealing with all such matters and feels that complaints of other cricketers in this regard should also be investigated. As per the reports, many cricketers have moved to the BCCI to reflect on their experiences with Indian media. If the board agrees in the same case, then an external agency will be finalized especially to tackle such issues.
It’s not just about Wriddhiman Saha alone: BCCI source
“It’s not just about Saha alone. Every player needs to be heard. For this, you need a neutral party to carry out such a process. But for that, you will first need consent from every stakeholder,” a BCCI source said as quoted by TOI.
“There have been players who have come to certain officials with their grievances regarding their perceptions in the media. Each of them needs to be probed. Even ex-coaches and support staff will need to be spoken to. If everyone is on board then an agency could be hired to speak to everyone and get a clear idea,” the source added.
