BCCI preparing blueprint to improve communication gap between selectors, players and team management

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided to step in, in order to improve the alleged communication gap between selectors, players and the team management. The board is already preparing a blueprint to build a team and future planning.

Things have developed after India’s World Test Championship (WTC) loss against New Zealand and also after Virat Kohli‘s comments about team getting ready for transition. Moreover, several players have raised the issue of lack of clarity and communication with the selectors and the management.

For the same reason, the board has decided to open the channel directly so that the players and the selectors in order to avoid any confusion. According to the Times of India, sources have stated that the chief selector Chetan Sharma have been multiple meetings with the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly.

“There were issues pertaining to communication and messages getting lost in transition. So the board top brass is looking to create a system so that the team management and players can have their concerns heard by the top management without much delay,” a top BCCI official said.

Issues to handle between team management and selectors

Reportedly, some of the issues also came out after Shubman Gill got ruled out of the Test series post the WTC Final loss. Despite having Mayank Agarwal and Abhimanyu Easwaran as openers in the squad, the team management requested for Prithvi Shaw to send who was in Sri Lanka then. To start with, the selectors reportedly denied to give in to the request.

However, they had to eventually pick replacements after Washington Sundar and Avesh Khan also got injured and ruled out during the three-day warm-up game. Prithvi Shaw and Suryakumar Yadav were flown to England after the Sri Lanka tour and they are currently in quarantine.

As far as the BCCI’s latest step is concerned, the domestic players would hope for the issues to be solved as there have been multiple instances that the cricketers have come out and raised concerns about lack of communication.
