'BCCI yet to finalize names of Indian players for the Asia XI vs World XI fixtures' - Sourav Ganguly
It will be interesting to see which of the Indian players will be selected to travel to Dhaka to participate in the marquee affair.
Bangladesh Cricket Board is all set to commemorate their country’s founding father Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s 100th anniversary with grandiose. The BCB will stage a couple of Asia XI vs World XI Twenty20 Internationals on March 18 and 21 at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Dhaka and is leaving no stone unturned the best of talents from all around the world.
In an attempt to make it a magnanimous affair, the Bangladesh Cricket Board [BCB] had requested for the services of top Indian cricketers for the occasion and the BCCI had also announced that it will be sending four of its players to participate in the Asia XI vs World XI fixtures.
But it is still to decide who those players will be, contrary to the report that had surfaced in the media that it had decided to send the likes of Virat Kohli, Shikhar Dhawan, Mohammed Shami, the BCCI President Sourav Ganguly clarified on Saturday.
“We are seeing the availability of the players and based on that we will finalise the names. The talk is still on,” Ganguly told Sportstar while adding that a total of five players could be available for the two T20 exhibition matches will be played at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium in Mirpur on March 18 and 21. “Both the matches will have the international status” Sourav Ganguly was quoted as saying by Sportstar.

The BCCI chief further clarified that the Cricket Advisory Committee- comprising of Madan Lal, RP Singh and Shubhangi Kulkarni- will meet in the next few days to appoint the selectors for the senior and junior panels, followed by the appointment of the women’s selection committee.
Ganguly also made it clear that the two vacant positions in the senior selection committee will be filled before the Men in Blue lock horns with South Africa in a three-match One-day International series, starting March 12.
Coming back to the Asia XI vs World XI fixtures, it will be interesting to see which of the Indian players will be selected to travel to Dhaka to participate in the marquee affair considering the final ODI of the India-South Africa series coincides with the first T20I in Dhaka on March 18.
