England’s pace bowler Stuart Broad has come in support of Ben Stokes and said the latter will definitely come stronger after the World Cup ‘drama’.

It was Ben Stokes who was at the receiving end when he conceded 24 runs in the last over of the ICC World T20 final this year. He became a butt of all jokes when West Indian all-rounder Carlos Brathwaite hit 4 consecutive sixes to seize the World Cup for West Indies.

Stuart Broad feels that this experience will help the young all-rounder learn and emerge as a better bowler in future. Interestingly, Stuart Broad, too, had a similar experience when he was clobbered for 6 sixes in an over by Yuvraj Singh in the inaugural edition of the World T20.

“I wouldn’t be the bowler I am now without that experience,” Broad told British media citing his own example.

“You’re dead right, people would have sat there thinking: ‘Why did you go that way?’,” he exclaimed further.

Defending the move to go with Stokes in the final over and the way he bowled it, Broad explained it is all instantaneous and the players go for the things they feel is right at that particular moment.

“But you’ve got to go with what you feel is your strength, so as a player you’ll always have things you are confident in. I prefer a player to get it wrong going for something they believe is their strength than going to something that isn’t.

Praising Ben Stokes, Broad called him an amazing talent and exclaimed he wouldn’t be surprised if Stokes comes up as an improved player now. “Don’t be surprised if Stokesy now performs at a really high level because he’ll realise what went wrong and channel it the right way — he has an amazing talent,” quoted Broad.
