Helicopter Shot is what comes to mind whenever one hears the name of Mahindra Singh Dhoni. Shifting the body weight on the back foot and carving the length ball over mid-wicket for a maximum made MS a favorite to many. His 192 sixes in ODIs were only 52 balls apart from each other which makes him the 9th entry in our list.

Abdul Razzaq belongs to the category of one of the cleanest hitters of the cricket ball. We have hardly seen him slog or play a rash shot in his entire career. The man behind 106 ODI sixes required approximately 50 balls in between two sixes – 8th best overall.

The backbone of India’s middle-order in limited overs cricket has just completed his 100 sixes in ODI cricket but his balls/six ratio of 49.48 turns out to be 7th best overall and the best for any batsman from India.

Shane Watson was regarded to fill in the shoes of Andrew Symonds after his retirement and he did reply with a better answer to the selectors call. Not only is he the better bowler between the two but also a better striker and puncher of the cricket ball. With 131 sixes in ODIs, Watto may not be one of Australia’s highest six-hitter but his balls per six ratio of 49.07 is surely the best among all the Australians and 6th best overall.

5. Chris Gayle (West Indies)

If any batsman is thought to break the Shahid Afridi’s record of most sixes in international cricket, it is Christopher Henry Gayle from the Caribbean island Jamaica. His formula to hit them is simple: Get suited to the conditions, pick a bowler and bang! No one can stop him if he gets going. Rahul Sharma from the IPL can better explain this but in internationals his 238 sixes facing 10834 balls puts him 5th on the list of best balls/six ratio in ODIs.

4. Chris Cairns (New Zealand)

Chris Cairns played in an epoch where the power-hitting stature was consumed by the likes of Shahid Afridi and Sanath Jayasuriya but he had the ability to distinguish his name from others. Facing just 5874 balls in his moderate ODI batting career, Cairns struck more than 150 sixes for New Zealand at almost 38 balls per six – 4th best in ODI cricket.
3. Wasim Akram (Pakistan)

Most people will remember Wasim Akram for his left-hand magic with the ball but this bowling all-rounder has struck 121 sixes in his long career and required only 4208 balls to hit them. His balls/six ratio of 34.77 is the 3rd best for any batsman in history.

B-Mac has redefined the art of power-hitting with his distinctive style of batting. His defiant and versatile way to caress the ball out of the park has been admitted all over the cricket fraternity. Brendon McCullum has so far struck 200 balls out of the ground from the 6312 he has faced, this makes his ratio almost 32 balls per over which is the 2nd best overall in ODI history.
