LasithMalinga who has from a Sling arm action, bowler made himself a reputation of being Sri Lanka’s leading pacer today. His Yorkers and toe crushers find the timber more occasions than not. He was effective right from the time he made his debut for Sri Lanka. In the 2011 world cup game against Kenya he took 6 wickets for 38 runs in 7.4 overs on the 1<sup>st</sup> of March. He was a real key to success for the Iceland team as they made it all the way to the final until they found the Indian team too hot to handle and eventually ended up being the runners-up.<br>

On 28 Feb 2011, West Indies was playing against the Dutch when the West Indian pacer Kemar Roach achieved the best bowling figures of 2011 world cup when he took 6 wickets for just 27 runs in 8.3 overs. With an economy rate under 4, it has been one of the best performances of the pacers career. Roach made his ODI debut in June 2008 and now contributes a lot to West Indian pace bowling attack along with Ravi Rampaul and Jerome Taylor. Though West Indies could not achieve much out of the World Cup and were knocked out Roach impressed one and all with his performance.<br>

One of the greatest Sri Lankan pacer, Chaminda Vaas was the center of pace bowling in the national team for more than a decade. Not so quick yet extremely effective type of bowler Vaas could not only swing the ball in the air but made it move off the wicket as well. With his effort against Bangladesh has successfully created some space for him to capture the no. 8 position of this list. The number 7 position holder is kiwi pacer Shane Bond who was in his pinnacle of form during 2003 World Cup. He is undoubtedly among the best pace bowler from New Zealand, Shane Bond, recorded his world cup best figures in the year, 2003. Bond known for his ability to bowl quick and unleash raw pace on the batsmen on 11 March 2003 took 6 wickets of the Aussies in 10 overs giving away just 23 runs. This right arm fast bowler is currently the bowling coach of New Zealand&#8217;s national side.<br>

The first and the only Indian to appear here for his best bowling figure is seasoned Indian bowler, Ashish Nehra.He enjoyed the achievement against England in 2003 WC. Nehra hunted down 6 Englishmen and holds the 6th position in this list. It was a dream spell for any bowler and to achieve that against England in a world cup game was special furthermore. Nehra unleashed against the English batsmen and his fired up bowling saw India get past through the opponents with ease. This day could also be termed the best day for Indian bowling in world cup history. Though India ran into Australia into the final and went back empty-handed. Nehra did accomplish his dream of holding the cup of glory being a part of the triumphant squad of 2011.<br>

Next to appear in this list is an Australian, Gary Gilmour. In the very first edition of the world cup i.e. 1975 WC, he successfully sent 6 English batsman to the pavilion by letting them score just 14 runs off his bowling. Talking about his cricketing career, Gilmour played in 15 Tests and 5 One Day<br>Internationals (ODIs) for Australia between 1973 and 1977. Gilmour was known for big hitting with outstanding left-arm swing bowling and some stunning slip catching. Unfortunately, he is no more with us he demised in June 2014.<br>

The third position of the Best bowling figures in World Cup cricket list is grabbed by the West Indian, Winston Davis. Interestingly, he achieved this feat in the 60 over world cup conducted in 1983. On 11 June 1983, the West Indies were playing versus the mighty Australians where Davis took 7 wickets in 10.3 overs by conceding 51 runs. Winston Walter Davis is also known to be a forgotten West Indian cricketing hero of that era.<br>

English batsmen who are groomed on pitches and conditions that swing had no answer to his full, on the mark and excellent piece of swing bowling. At number 2 is another Australian, Andy Bichel is mainly a seam bowler, and his style is right arm medium fast bowling. He also finds a place in the list with his 7 wickets haul versus England. The best thing about this performance was the economy rate. The pacer conceded just 20 runs off his quota of 10 overs with a mind-blowing economy rate of 2 runs per over. <p>On 28 Feb 2011, West Indies was playing against the Dutch when the West Indian pacer Kemar Roach achieved the best bowling figures of 2011 world cup when he took 6 wickets for just 27 runs in 8.3 overs. With an economy rate under 4, it has been one of the best performances of the pacers career. Roach made his ODI debut in June 2008 and now contributes a lot to West Indian pace bowling attack along with Ravi Rampaul and Jerome Taylor. Though West Indies could not achieve much out of the World Cup and were knocked out Roach impressed one and all with his performance.<br>

<p>One of the greatest Sri Lankan pacer, Chaminda Vaas was the center of pace bowling in the national team for more than a decade. Not so quick yet extremely effective type of bowler Vaas could not only swing the ball in the air but made it move off the wicket as well. With his effort against Bangladesh has successfully created some space for him to capture the no. 8 position of this list. On 14th February 2003, he attained his best bowling figures in world cups against Bangladesh as Vaas took 6 wickets for 25 runs in the 9.1 overs that he bowled in the game.<br>

<p>The number 7 position holder is kiwi pacer Shane Bond who was in his pinnacle of form during 2003 World Cup. He is undoubtedly among the best pace bowler from New Zealand, Shane Bond, recorded his world cup best figures in the year, 2003. Bond known for his ability to bowl quick and unleash raw pace on the batsmen on 11 March 2003 took 6 wickets of the Aussies in 10 overs giving away just 23 runs. This right arm fast bowler is currently the bowling coach of New Zealand&#8217;s national side.<br>

<p>The first and the only Indian to appear here for his best bowling figure is seasoned Indian bowler, Ashish Nehra.He enjoyed the achievement against England in 2003 WC. Nehra hunted down 6 Englishmen and holds the 6th position in this list. It was a dream spell for any bowler and to achieve that against England in a world cup game was special furthermore. Nehra unleashed against the English batsmen and his fired up bowling saw India get past through the opponents with ease. This day could also be termed the best day for Indian bowling in world cup history. Though India ran into Australia into the final and went back empty-handed. Nehra did accomplish his dream of holding the cup of glory being a part of the triumphant squad of 2011.<br>

<h2>5. Gary Gilmour (Australia)</h2>

<p>Next to appear in this list is an Australian, Gary Gilmour. In the very first edition of the world cup i.e. 1975 WC, he successfully sent 6 English batsman to the pavilion by letting them score just 14 runs off his bowling. Talking about his cricketing career, Gilmour played in 15 Tests and 5 One Day<br>
Internationals (ODIs) for Australia between 1973 and 1977. Gilmour was known for big hitting with outstanding left-arm swing bowling and some stunning slip catching. Unfortunately, he is no more with us he demised in June 2014.<br>

<p>The third position of the Best bowling figures in World Cup cricket list is grabbed by the West Indian, Winston Davis. Interestingly, he achieved this feat in the 60 over world cup conducted in 1983. On 11 June 1983, the West Indies were playing versus the mighty Australians where Davis took 7 wickets in 10.3 overs by conceding 51 runs. Winston Walter Davis is also known to be a forgotten West Indian cricketing hero of that era.<br>

<p>Tim Southee the New Zealand seam bowler achieved his best bowling figures of 7-32 bowling against England in their second game against England at Wellington. English batsmen who are groomed on pitches and conditions that swing had no answer to his full, on the mark and excellent piece of swing bowling. Southee early into his spell got rid of both the openers Ian Bell and Moeen Ali. Came back to again extract horizontal movement as he removed Taylor, Buttler, Woaks, Broad and Finn. His super fine bowling and exceptional figures of 9-0-33-7 gets him a place right at the third spot in the list.</p>

<p>At number 2 is another Australian, Andy Bichel is mainly a seam bowler, and his style is right arm medium fast bowling. He also finds a place in the list with his 7 wickets haul versus England. The best thing about this performance was the economy rate. The pacer conceded just 20 runs off his quota of 10 overs with a mind-blowing economy rate of 2 runs per over. <p>At the top of the feature, is a fast bowling legend from Australia, Glenn McGrath, leading contributor to Australia&#8217;s domination of world cricket from the mid-1990s to the early 21<sup>st</sup> century. McGrath changed perception of many who believed you need to be express with pace to succeed consistently. Even with his gentle pace, McGrath maintained extremely disciplined line and length, along with the swing and extra bounce that he could generate off the wicket.  It was on 27th of February 2003, that he achieved this feat picking 7 wickets against Namibia in 7 overs conceding merely 15 runs. The bowling attack led by McGrath and Gillespie in that edition of ICC World Cup was a strong platform behind Australia’s win in the 2003 World Cup.</p>
