1) Ashes 09: XBOX

The Ashes is one of the biggest rivalries in international cricket. The participating teams, Australia and England give their all in the matches played and thus their contest is a treat to watch for the fans.

The Ashes 09 game for XBOX is one such game that was developed in and around the concept of the Ashes. The game was developed by Transmission Games and published by Codemasters in the UK and by Namco Bandai in Australia. The game was released for XBOX on the 6th and 7th of August 2009 in Australia and Europe respectively.

Also, the game is licensed by the ECB, Cricket Australia, and the MCC, owners of the urn. The game also includes the official teams of England and Australia.

The game includes interactive and intuitive batting and bowling visuals which was much better than the games released before it. It also features commentary by Tony Greig, Jonathan Agnew, Shane Warne, Ian Bishop, and Sir Ian Botham which gives a real-life experience to an extent. The game was received well by the users and was even ranked highly by the gaming authorities.

The craze for the Ashes never gets subdued. Similar to the Ashes 2009 game, Cricket19 was the official video game of the 2019 Ashes Series. It was developed by Big Ant Studios in collaboration with Maximum Games.

Along with XBOX, the game was released for PS4 and Nintendo Switch on the 28th of May 2019. Some weeks later it was also released for Windows via the Steam Client. The game has both single and multiplayer modes of play.

The new Scenario mode in the game allows players to start the game in any predetermined situation. Along with the Ashes, the game has men’s ODI, T20, and Test World Cups, and also women’s ODI and T20 World Cups. It also includes a career mode that allows users to start as a rookie or as an existing established cricketer. The game was liked by many and was rated 8/10 by IGN but was criticized for its glitches and being similar to the previous Big Ant game Ashes Cricket.

3) Big Bash Boom: XBOX

The Big Bash is the Australian T20 league, being played for a long time now. It includes many teams representing the different Australian provinces and also has a lot of Australian and international superstars.

The Big Bash Boom was developed for representing the Big Bash League. Again, this game was developed by Big Ant Studios for various platforms and was released on December 13, 2018. Later it was also released for Microsoft Windows in December 2020.

This was the first cricket game to be released for Nintendo Switch and has fully licensed players, teams, and squads of the 2018-19 season of the men’s and women’s Big Bash League. The gameplay has three modes namely, Casual, Tournament, and Online. Although the game had few exciting features, it was rated moderately because of the bugs and glitches.

4) Ashes Cricket: PS4

This game is arguably the best in the category of the Ashes. The game was developed by Big Ant Studios and was the first game to officially be licensed to modern teams and players. It was the official game for the 2017-18 Ashes series in Australia.

Along with PS4, the game was released for other platforms too like XBOX and Windows in November 2017. The game included modes where the user could take either England or Australia through the Ashes series or even play as an individual star player. The game also has the feature to create players and publish them on the “cricket academy” or use them in series or personal careers.

The game includes both single and multiplayer modes. It has accurate and life-like graphics of the players and the stadiums. It was rated very well by the gaming bodies, with a score of 8/10 by IGN and 73/100 for PS4 by Metacritic.

5) Don Bradman Cricket 17: PS4

This game was again developed by Big Ant Studios and was a sequel to the 2014 game- Don Bradman Cricket 14. The game was officially released for various platforms in December 2016.

The publishers of the game were Tru Blu Entertainment. The game has three modes which were -Single, Multiplayer, and Cooperative. The game also has an extensive career mode where players start as local players and then go on to play domestic and international games. It also includes a “Be a Pro” mode where one can play as an existing player and play through career mode controlling the whole team.

The game also has newer shots such as the helicopter shot with exciting visuals and special effects. The game however does not have an official license and real players. The game was received well and was rated 83/100 by Metacritic as an improved version of the previous Don Bradman game.
