Team India A is going strong in the ongoing three-day day-night warm-up game against Australia A from December 11 to December 13 at Sydney Cricket Ground owing to Jasprit Bumrah. However, this time Bumrah isn’t in the headlines for his performance with the ball, instead he lit up the gloomy Indian dug-out with his stunning performance with the willow. In the first innings of India, Bumrah scored a scintillating half-century to take India to a comprehensive total of 194.
Toss went Indian skipper Ajinkya Rahane’s way and he elected to bat first. The visitors witnessed a decent start as Prithvi Shaw and Shubhman Gill showed determination to bring runs for their team. Shaw amassed 40 runs off just 29 deliveries while Gill added 43 runs to the scoreboard in 58 balls. However, the Indian team soon got in trouble as they quickly went from 102/3 to 123/9. This is when the pace spearhead Bumrah did something unexpected.
He along with seamer Mohammad Siraj stitched a crucial partnership of 71-runs for the last wicket to take India towards a total of 194. The pacer smashed unbeaten 55 runs off 57 deliveries including 6 boundaries and 2 maximums to bring in his maiden half-century in any format of professional cricket. All the Indian players present on the field were in awe of Bumrah’s batting skills and gave him a guard of honour.
