30-year-old Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s career has been hampered by a series of injuries in recent times. He didn’t have a perfect start to 2020 as he had to undergo a sports hernia surgery in January. Post his recovery, the Meerut-born pacer is eager to brace the field again while donning the national jersey.

Bhuvneshwar was a part of India squad which was scheduled to face South Africa in a three-match ODI series. However, after the abandonment of the first match at Dharamsala due to rain, the subsequent two games were also called off due to COVID-19 outbreak.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar also wants to open an academy in Meerut

At present, like many other cricketers, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is also spending time at home amid the coronavirus pandemic-enforced lockdown. The idle time of the lockdown has helped the pacer to plan his future expeditions. Bhhuvneshwar revealed that he wants to open an academy in Meerut because the city has given him a lot.

“I want to open an academy in Meerut because it has given me so much. I just want to give it back to the people over there. That is something I am going to do for sure,” Bhuvi said in a webinar organised by GainAccess Sports & Entertainment and SportzPower.

Meanwhile, during recent times, the trend of biopics has notched up to a new scale altogether and every cricket fanatic loves to see a well-crafted movie showing a player’s life journey. When asked about the actor which he would choose to play his role in his biopic, Bhuvneshwar took Rajkumar Rao’s name.

“Once somebody suggested that Rajkummar Rao has a lot of similarities with me in terms of physical appearance. So he could play my role in my biopic,” said Bhuvneshwar, who was going to play a crucial role in Sunrisers Hyderabad’s title heist in IPL 2020.

Bhuvneshwar, who is known for is composed on-field attitude, also said that he has become more mature during the course of his cricket journey. According to him, a player doesn’t think about anything but cricket in his younger days.

“When you are young, you just cannot think anything beyond cricket. But as you grow older, you get to learn that cricket is just a part of your journey,” said the right-arm pacer, who has taken over 200 wickets while donning the Indian jersey in 21 Tests, 114 ODIs and 43 T20Is.
