Australia ‘A’ are scheduled to tour India for a quadrangular series, involving South Africa ‘A’, India ‘A’ and India ‘B’. The series is set to get underway from August 17 and will continue till August 29. Andhra Pradesh and Vijayawada are the venues for the encounters. A number of players from the Australian senior team will also play, Billy Stanlake is one of them.
The Hervey Bay-born fast-bowler is busy preparing himself for the contests and is currently at the Bupa National Cricket Centre in Brisbane. Moreover, he is there along with the likes of Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins and Josh Hazlewood, who are also recovering from their respective injuries. The speedster isn’t missing out on the opportunities of rubbing shoulders with them and gaining valuable knowledge.
It’s a great challenge going over there
“It’s great to get amongst them, and around some boys of the same height. It’s always great to feed off guys like that – they’re terrific bowlers and for me, someone who is just breaking into the international system, it’s always great to feed off them and get some ideas and see their experiences as well,” Stanlake was quoted as saying in News 18.
“I’ve always tried to bowl that hard length as I do over here in Australia but it’s more bowling a little bit more straight in those conditions. That’s the great thing about going to all different parts of the world, it’s always different. For me, it’s a great challenge going over there and that’s something I always enjoy, having a good challenge,” the 23-year-old added.
Stanlake has also been through quite a few injuries. Last year, he broke his finger during the Indian Premier League, representing the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Nevertheless, he recovered in time and featured in Australia’s tour of England for the five-match ODI series followed by a one-off T20I. The lanky pacer also bowled brilliantly in the T20I triangular series in Zimbabwe.
