Biopic is not to glorify me: MS Dhoni

The biopic on the India’s limited-overs captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni – ‘MS Dhoni-The Untold Story’ is all set to hit the theatres is a few days time and Dhoni lamented that the film is not to ‘glorifying him’, rather it speaks about the journey of a professional sports person.

Dhoni said that he asked the director of the movie, Neeraj Pandey to make sure that the film depicts the journey of a professional sportsperson.

While speaking at a press conference in the USA, Dhoni said, “It is a very simple story and that is the beauty of it. One thing I told Neeraj [the director] was, this story should not be to glorify me. It is about the journey of a professional sports person and that’s what it should be about.”

Talking about his reaction when he saw the film, MSD said that it refreshed old memories. “All those things that had happened became fresh in my memory — from where I lived, how my school was, where we played. I went blank. It was nice to be in the past for a moment and you get a view of what others think about me.”

The 35-year old also said that he had never talked about cricket with his parents and the film enables him to get an idea of what they actually thought about him. “I have never talked to my parents about cricket and it was nice to get a glimpse of what they really thought about me,” added India’s most successful skipper.

With the film releasing on September 30, MS Dhoni fans are eagerly waiting for the movie which has already generated so much excitement.
