Hardik Pandya had a horrendous year in 2019. It started with a controversy, which could easily have ended his career and shattered his dreams of playing for Team India. The BCCI suspended him provisionally and he was called back from the tour of Australia. However, he made his comeback and played in the 2019 World Cup. But there were more miseries waiting for him going ahead.

After India’s home T20Is against South Africa in September, his recurring back injury haunted him and he hasn’t played international cricket ever since. He made the national squad for the ODIs against the Proteas in March, but couldn’t play as the series was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Even as his cricket career has witnessed cruelty, his personal life has been worth envying.

Hardik Pandya having a memorable 2020

He started 2020, getting engaged to Serbian actress Natasa Stankovic. He didn’t forget to kiss her hands either while kneeling down to propose. A couple of months earlier, he announced the pregnancy of his wife and thereafter, shared some heartfelt pictures with her. Earlier in August, Hardik became a father and was over the moon after the happy development in his life.

In the meantime, Hardik and Natasa also named their son, Agastya. Nevertheless, amidst his journey to fatherhood, Hardik is also set for his cricketing sojourn. The Baroda all-rounder is set to play for the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the 2020 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The T20 tournament is scheduled to get underway on September 19.

The 26-year-old Hardik uploaded a picture where Natasa was seen, holding Agastya in her arms with the cricketer in the background. He captioned the adorable picture and wrote, “Miss my two angels. Blessed to have you both in my life.”

After the IPL, India are expected to resume their international journey with the tour of Australia later this year followed by a home series against England. Hardik will be hoping to find his form and stay fit in order to make his comeback at the highest level. Despite not playing much in the last 12 months, he remains to be a crucial member for the Men in Blue.
