Geoff Dymock, the right-arm medium fast bowler from Australia, rolled over India in their own land with his combined match figures of 12/166 at the Green Park, Kanpur in 1979. This show against India remains the best performance of his short 21 Tests career. Sporting a bushranger’s beard, Dymock forged a partnership with Rodney Hogg and ripped through the Indian batting order without much of a problem.

The Indians, after choosing to bat first, started off really well with the top three batsmen scoring half-centuries. But, Dymock then intervened and turned the match in the visitor’s favor with a spell of 5/99 to his name. He was more lethal in the following innings where he took 7/67. Unfortunately, all his heroics weren’t enough for Australia to clinch the game as Kapil Dev & Co. helped India claw back into the game and win it eventually by a massive 153 runs and take a 1-0 lead.
